After a really busy few weeks I've ended up precisely where I try not to be and that's FRAZZLED!!!
I'm never sure whether I should say these things out loud to the people who look to me for wellbeing and calm, but I do think that it's better for you to know that I am human, with everyday human life stuff to deal with, and that I sometimes have to step back and revisit exactly what I teach on a regular basis.
So what's my go to when life gets too busy?
I make space!
I know that might sound obvious and potentially ridiculous when you're in the midst of a chaotic month, but I need this space to allow me to think clearly about what I need to get done that day/week/month.
Without it, I am much more likely to end up making quick and less efficient decisions, potentially making more work for myself down the line.
So if you're feeling frazzled, or overwhelmed, or too busy, or exhausted, or all of it, try not to let the basics slip too much. Ignoring the essentials will almost certainly increase the frazzle...
MY MAIN DE-FRAZZLE TIPS ARE:
I ensure I'm keeping up with all the basics - regular hydration, varied nutrition, short and regular bursts of exercise, prioritising sleep over late night "catch ups"
I book in some quiet/non organised time as soon as I feel the beginnings of The Frazzle and do something that requires very little brain power from me. Pottering in my garden is my go to. You might have a different one.
I still do the cool stuff that makes me happy, even if I feel like I don't have time
I cancel stuff and say no to stuff that is not a definite YES and that I know is tricky to fit in atm
I write a big list of everything and scan it for essentials and urgent tasks so that I don't have to add "stressed that I didn't do that thing" to my list.
Here's to holding on tight to the precious life-space inbetween stuff.
And here's to pottering. It's a quietly amazing healthy activity.
Hope this helps. I'd love to hear from you if it does.
